Video: Interview with James Howard, president of the SAISD school board at a candidate's forum

On March 20, I attended a school board candidate forum to ask James Howard, President of the school board at the San Antonio Independent School District, questions about enrollments and drop out rates in District 2.

I had been trying to speak to Howard for two years, through emails, SAISD board meetings and at events held at Sam Houston High School. I wanted to know why enrollments and SAT scores were down at SAISD schools, while the high school dropout rate was up.

Howard has been in the SAISD school board for 12 years, including the last two as president. He is up for re-election on May 14 in crucial elections across school districts in San Antonio and surrounding areas.

Because I couldn't get answers previously, I posed my questions to Howard at the forum, held at Emanuel AME Church, located at 1600 Semlinger on the East Side. Here are his answers in this video:
