Updated Sept. 5, 2013: San Antonio Food Bank and Whataburger launched the 4rd annual SA Goes Orange, a month-long campaign designed to encourage everyone in southwest Texas to "Go Orange" and take action to fight hunger during September, Hunger Action Month.
According to a press release, more than 230,000 people in Southwest Texas rely on the Food Bank’s network of programs and services— and more than 500,000 Southwest Texans are at risk of going hungry.
The Go Orange Campaign is part of national movement to raise awareness and take action to fight hunger in America. Throughout the month, Feeding America’s nationwide network of more than 200 food banks is working to engage citizens to take action through the 30 Ways in 30 Days campaign. “SA Goes Orange” is the San Antonio Food Bank's local campaign to engage local businesses, government and the community to raise awareness and take action to fight hunger.
If you would like to “Go Orange” you can get involved by wearing orange to raise awareness about hunger in the community, volunteering, participating in fundraising events, or more. Check out the the “30 Ways in 30 Days” calendar on www.sagoesorange.org for ideas on what you can do.
Local officials, TV personalities, businesses and more will share their messages on what they are doing to get involved in the fight to end hunger: You can follow the San Antonio Food Bank on Facebook and Twitter to see them throughout the month.
