Dogs, be free! First downtown off-leash dog park opens Oct. 10
Location
While the signs aren't up yet and finishing touches are being made, San Antonio's first downtown off-leash dog park is set to open to the public Sunday, Oct. 10.
The Madison Square Dog Park, located on the corner of Lexington and Dallas streets, boasts shaded walkways, benches and water fountains. Oh, and of course, a brightly painted red, faux fire hydrant.
District 1 City Councilwoman Mary Alice Cisneros will officially open the park from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with food and drinks, for humans and dogs alike, and live entertainment. Animal Care Services will also be offering micro chipping services, vaccinations, dog licensing and same-day pet adoptions.
Free parking will be available around the park as well as in the parking lot of Madison Square Presbyterian Church, Lexington and Quincy streets.
