Holocaust: Learn and Remember 2014

REPLAY VIDEO: In partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio and the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and the San Antonio Public Library presented the second Holocaust: Learn and Remember. Learn and Remember aims to tell the stories of the victims of the Holocaust, including those who were not Jewish.

Beginning with a commemoration on April 28 , 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, Holocaust: Learn and Remember events were scheduled throughout the month of May. Survivor stories were presented at several branch locations, and artifacts on loan from the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio were on display at additional branch locations system-wide.

Additionally, Connect at the Central Technology Test Drive area on the first floor of Central Library dedicated its iPad collection exclusively to a “digital exhibit” commemorating Holocaust Remembrance. The exhibit included access to the official website and digital, audio and video presentations created by the San Antonio Public Library and the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio.

The opening reception included remarks by Ronit Sherwin, CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio, Francesca Garrett, Executive Director of the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio and Ramiro S. Salazar, Director of the San Antonio Public Library. The event was organized by Howie Nestel of Sharkmatic, who co-founded Learn and Remember with Salazar in 2013. Several Holocaust artifacts were on display to the public for the first time during this program. NOWCastSA recorded the Commemoration and you can re-experience it by clicking the video below.
