The City of San Antonio collaborates with United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County and Catholic Charities on this city-wide effort to increase the financial stability of working individuals and families across Bexar County. This year, local tax filers can take advantage of Virtual VITA by dropping off information and returns to be processed within 48-72 hours. Express Service includes expedited tax preparation with only one W-2 to process.

Mobile VITA teams are also available. Organizations, apartment complexes, senior centers, and others can sign up for a visit from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax preparers. VITA Mobile Team members will complete FREE income tax preparation at the designated location. Call (210) 222-2975 to schedule a visit. Trained, professional VITA volunteer tax preparers bring the equipment and only need a space for up to four computers and electrical outlets for mobile equipment.

Additionally, U.S. savings bonds are available at all VITA sites.

What do I need to bring with me on my visit with VITA?

  • Valid photo identification
  • Social Security Card(s) or Individual Tax Identification Number(s) for all family members
  • All W-2 Forms
  • Copy of prior year tax return (if applicable)
  • 1099 Forms (if applicable)
  • If filing jointly, spouse must be present to review/sign completed return

San Antonio’s VITA Program is nationally recognized as one of the top performing programs across the country. During the 2014/2015 tax filing season, volunteers operated 22 sites located throughout the city and completed more than 34,000 tax returns: Over $72,000,000 in refunds were returned to the San Antonio Community.

VITA sites experience peak customer volume throughout February and again in April near the tax deadline. All filers should arrive early and allow plenty of time when visiting a VITA site for tax preparation.
