Top five ways to prepare for the impending zombie apocalypse
With the apocalypse scheduled to happen Dec. 22, 2012, we here at Zombie Response Team feel it's important that San Antonians understand the importance of preparation.
Being properly prepared is extremely important in anticipating any disaster scenario. Whether it be a hurricane, snow storm or something more extreme such as the zombie apocalypse; be prepared for the unexpected.
Here are the top five tips which could save your life when disaster strikes:
1. Create a bug out bag. Fill a bag with a few necessary items such as extra batteries, first aid kit, dried foods, water purification tablets or water purification system, flashlight, mini solar panel, crank radio, matches, space blanket and/or poncho lining and anything else you think you might need within the first 72 hours of a disaster situation.
2. Have several gallons of water readily available. Keep a few gallons of water in your garage or closet so when the lights and plumbing do go out, you'll have a couple days worth of water until you can figure out a plan of action. Be sure to switch out the water every couple of weeks so it doesn't get all stale tasting. And instead of just throwing it out, use it to cook with or feed some plants.
3. Know your escape routes. Figure out the easiest escape routes from your apartment/house/place of work.
4. Know your weapon of choice intimately. Your weapon of choice could be anything, but just be sure you know it inside and out before the disaster hits. FYI: We do not advocate using weapons for anything other than hunting.
5. Get together with your local organization or intimate group of individuals. By banding together with your local organization of prepared people, you'll learn new skills from each other in order to be better prepared. Not only that, but you can all discuss a specific plan of action for when disaster strikes. You can also ban together with people who you know and trust that also have skills which would be beneficial during the apocalypse, such as: woodworking, EMT, mechanics, etc.
In the San Antonio area, you can join the Zombie Response Team Meetup.com group to learn survival skills from all walks of life.
Stay safe by staying prepared!
