Viva Fiesta: Cascarone App for iPhone/iPad

Since moving to San Antonio five and a half years ago, I have found a special place in my heart for Fiesta.  In particular, I love going to NIOSA and surprising friends and random people by cracking cascarones on their heads; it is not Fiesta until you get confetti in your beer.

This past year I had it in the back of my mind to create something kitschy to celebrate Fiesta.  Four months ago, while pining for sunshine and warm weather in the midst of cold and rainy weather, it hit me to create an app called Cascarone.

The app allows for users to decorate a virtual Easter Egg on their iPhone or iPad with colors, stripes, and designs.  The user can then shake the phone and the egg will crack open with confetti flowing out while mariachi music plays.

People can create an egg and shake the device over another's head to simulate cracking a cascaron.  This is perfect for any Fiesta party where either you run out of real cascarones or you don’t want to create a mess in the host’s living room!  Additionally, you can also load a friend's picture into the app and the egg will crack on them in a video loop on your iPhone/iPad.

Cascarone is available in the iTunes App Store for $0.99: it has been featured as a New and Noteworthy Family and Kids App.  I hope that you can enjoy using it at some of your Fiesta parties and celebrations.  ¡Viva Fiesta!
