San Antonio asks residents to help identify iconic views that need protection

The San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation is gathering public input to consider additional local landmarks for "viewshed protection," to keep the view from being blocked by development at the request of District 7 Councilwoman Ana E. Sandoval and District 2 Councilman William “Cruz” Shaw.

At the first public meeting on viewshed protection on Jan. 29, 2018 at AIA San Antonio, city staff explained the process and asked residents to submit photos and suggestions for views and vistas of historic places, landmarks and cultural resources that should be protected. This online survey will be open through March 9:

A second public meeting is Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Board Room at 1901 South Alamo. Office of Historic Preservation staff will present the results of public input and share draft amendments to the city code.
