Webcast: San Antonio FY 2013 Community Budget Hearings
Replay Video: NOWCastSA will webcast live from four of the City of San Antonio FY 2013 Budget Hearings - you can join us online to be part of the conversation Monday, Aug. 20 through Thursday, Aug. 23 starting at 6:30 p.m. right here on this page.
While there are two budget hearings scheduled simultaneously on Thursday, NOWCastSA will webcast one and will record the other and get it on the site for you to replay later.
Council members and City staff will be in attendance at each hearing to explain important aspects of the proposed budget and answer questions from participants. Members of the public are encouraged to sign up to speak for or against proposed program budgets.

by evrardWednesday's attendees focused on human capital - organizations such as Dress for Success, Project QUEST and Any Baby Can were well represented. There was also emphasis on the need for more senior centers and after-school programs for kids.

by evrardTuesday's crowd focused on a need for adult literacy and education initiatives, as well as early childhood education. Suggestions included focusing on people versus symptoms or the environment, and using more volunteers as well as probation/community service labor to reduce staff costs. Representatives from Project QUEST asked the City to restore the $800,000 cut from its expected 2013 budget.
