David Rubin arrived in San Antonio by way of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Crescent City. Rubin joined the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) in 2006 as the Brown Foundation Curator of Contemporary Art and has been responsible for the permanent collection, exhibitions and programming in contemporary art at the museum. One of the programs that have been very successful is the ongoing Artist Conversation Series.

Since moving to San Antonio five and a half years ago, I have found a special place in my heart for Fiesta.  In particular, I love going to NIOSA and surprising friends and random people by cracking cascarones on their heads; it is not Fiesta until you get confetti in your beer.

Every year on the last Saturday of March, thousands of people in San Antonio gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Cesar Estrada Chavez. This year’s march had special meaning for me, not only because it was the 15th year of the march and because it was my 11th year as one of the organizers. It was because I got to march along one of my role models.

The HemisFair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) is asking people to respond to invitations for its latest public meeting on the future of the park. In this forum, HPARC will present the public's input from the previous two sessions discussing ideas to renovate the park, according to a news release.The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., April 26 at Sunset Station's Depot 1 at 1174 E. Replay the video: With two cameras perched at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, NOWCastSA webcast the Fort Sam Houston Fiesta fireworks celebration live Sunday night. The San Antonio Botanical Garden boasts the highest elevation spot inside of the Interstate 410 loop and is next door to Fort Sam Houston's MacArthur Parade Field, where the fireworks are launched, making it an ideal place to view the fireworks spectacular.
