A professor in the School of Nursing at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio has received one of the nursing profession’s most prestigious research honors — the Episteme Award. The biennial award was presented to Kathleen R. Stevens, Ed.D., RN, ANEF, FAAN, by Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), the Honor Society of Nursing, at the society’s 41st Biennial Convention in Grapevine, Texas.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program that helps local moderate to low-income families file their taxes for free is looking for volunteers.The program is led by the City of San Antonio, United Way of San Antonio & Bexar County, Catholic Charities of San Antonio, Inc. and partners with the Alamo City Coalition for Economic Self-Sufficiency (A.C.C.E.S.S.).

On Tuesday, Nov. 1, the Molly Pruitt Library at Roosevelt High School, 5110 Walzem Road, will extend its public service hours from 32 hours a week to 56 hours a week, giving it the same number of service hours as all other San Antonio Public Library branches. The branch library, which is located in a school, was previously open to the public only outside school hours. The new operating schedule will be:
