However, Green Spaces Alliance has rescheduled the class from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 4.

RSVP is required. Capacity is limited. Contact Angela at (210)222-8430 or angela@greenspacesalliance.org.

Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas knows about gardening. Our Community Gardens Program is now working with 25 groups to create community gardens in the city of San Antonio. In an effort to share our wealth of information resources, Green Spaces will host six gardening work(ing)shops throughout 2010. In these aptly named “work(ing)shops,” participants will learn by combining knowledge from the classroom with outdoor experiences.

The work(ing)shops will be held at local community gardens. Green Spaces has invited experts, community members and volunteers to share theory and then the application of regionally appropriate gardening techniques. A different topic will be addressed at each meeting. Lessons learned can be applied to community gardens or private backyard landscapes.

There is no charge to attend most workshops. Green Spaces requests that all participants bring regionally-appropriate vegetable seed donations. These will be distributed to the hosting community garden as well as other community gardens in the area.

The next workshop is Organic and IPM Techniques from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 28 at  Beacon Hill Community Garden 1144 W. Gramercy.

Upcoming workshops:
  • September 11: Composting
  • November 13: Winter Garden Prep and Protection
