San Anto Cultural Arts' Huevos Rancheros Gala
Viva la Huevolution! Join San Anto Cultural Arts from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 2 at Plaza Guadalupe, 1327 Guadalupe St. to eat huevos rancheros, bid on art and celebrate the vibrancy of this Westside neighborhood!
The Huevos Rancheros Gala and Silent Art Auction is the largest fundraising event San Anto Cultural Arts hosts. The event was created in 1998 to raise funds for programming and general operating costs. Held annually in October, the Huevos Rancheros Gala is much more than a fundraising event. Each year, the gala honors the King and Queen Huevo of San Antonio -- two individuals who are chose for their contributions to the artist and cultural vibrancy of our city. This year’s King Huevo is Santiago Garcia of Westside Development Corporation, and the Queen Huevo is Megan Kromer, formerly of the Kronkosky Foundation.
The gala also serves as an opportunity for San Anto Cultural Arts to honor the Court of Hueveros. The Court of Hueveros is made up of San Anto program participants recognized for their contributions to our community through their involvement with the Community Mural/Public Art Program and/or El Placazo Community Newspaper. Funds raised from this year's event will go toward operating expenses and off-setting the costs of the organization's move to 2120 El Paso St.
You'll also get to jam out to Suzy Bravo with a special guest, and DJ JJ Lopez will be spinning your favorites. The Silent Art Auction will feature great works from local artists.
Catering is by Estela's Mexican Restaurant (2200 W. Martin). In the event of rain, Huevos will be held at the restaurant. If in doubt, check www.sananto.org at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1.
