Literary globetrotting continues this spring with consummate reader Jim LaVilla-Havelin.

The novel of choice on February 21st is Krik Krak by Edwidge Danticat. This novel arrives one year after the Haitian-American’s first novel, Breath, Eyes, Memory, alerted critics to her compelling voice.

Krik Krak examines the lives of ordinary Haitians, particularly those struggling to survive under the brutal Duvalier regime. Danticat illuminates the distance between people’s desires and the reality of their lives.
