This presentation is like other documentaries based on wartime experiences. The stories we tell stem from live interviews with local veterans of WW II. The themes of this production are universal; we strive to touch people through the very real human values that are exhibited during any legitimate war. Almost daily, The Express-News includes notices and articles about the death of WW II veterans or individuals admired for their civilian services during the WW II. Our community in “Military City, USA” risks missing out on hearing the moving, often humorous, stories of those who participated in WW II. These stories, unless gathered and shared, may be lost to us forever. The Extended Run Players share these stories in a live performance that includes slides of the service men in uniform as well as other images from the era. In addition, the Cadenza Singers, who are part of the theatre company, sing the service songs and other popular 1940’s music. Our goal is to stir the hearts and minds of our audience to understand, appreciate, and praise what these veterans have offered and bequeathed to us.
