As part of their Texas tour, the Notre Dame Folk Choir will present a Concert of Sacred Music in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word on Tuesday, May 29 at 7 p.m.

Founded in the late 1970s, the Folk Choir serves as one of the principal liturgical choirs in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame.

Accompanied by a variety of instruments (from the pipe organ, flute and strings to the guitar and bodhrán (Irish drum), the Folk Choir “works to bridge the gap between contemporary compositions of a post-Vatican II church community and the rich expression of traditional choral repertoire.”

A free-will offering will be taken up during the evening, and a portion of these proceeds will go to support the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs.

As part of our joint sponsorship of the evening, University Mission and Ministry will be providing a meal for the choir about 4 p.m. and is looking for a few able hands to help with set-up, serving, and clean-up, as well as a few welcoming faces to serve as hospitality ministers, passing out programs and greeting guests as they arrive.

If you would like to assist in either capacity, please contact: Lena Gokelman, mgokelma@uiwtx.edu or (210) 832-3207.
