Lissa Bengtson

I am Director of the International Folk Culture Center at Our Lady of the Lake University.  The mission of the IFCC is to promote friendship, unity and mental and physical fitness through music and dance.  The IFCC exists as a result of an extremely generous donation by Dr. Janice Mendelson, a lifetime folk dancer.

Examples of the classes we offer at the IFCC:

  • Zumba(R)  Monday - Thursday 5:15 p.m. First time is free!  Then we offer class cards of 10 classes for $20 or 20 classes for $30
  • International Folk Dancing. Wednesdays 7:30 p.m.  Learn dances from around the world--from Scandinavia to South Africa,  from the U.S. to Russia, from Bolivia to Brittany.  $2 donation requested.  All dances are taught, no partner necessary.
  • Contra Dancing. 2nd and 4th Saturdays 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.  Easy American dance that can be learned in 15 minutes.  Live music!  Every dance is taught, no partner necessary.  $6  requested.

And many more classes!   Watch for belly dancing and line dancing later in the Summer.  www.ollusa.edu/ifcc

I also teach line dancing, folk dancing and Zumba in other parts of town.  Feel free to contact me at 210-867-0692.
