NOWCastSA is eligible to receive donations through the San Antonio Area Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) for the first time in 2015.

The Combined Federal Campaign is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations.  NOWCastSA is one of 2,800 local and more than 22,000 total nonprofits eligible to receive donations through the CFC in 2015.

The 18th season of the free concert series “Musical Evenings at San Fernando Cathedral,” presented by Musical Bridges Around the World, kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 with a performance of “Czech Me Out!”

Armenian soprano Mane Galoyan, the bronze medalist at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the youngest member of the Houston Grand Opera Studios, will be joined by Czech virtuoso duo Felix Slováček, Jr., clarinet, and Vyacheslav Grokhovski Jr., piano, in a colorful program of international delights.

The latest research by the Southern Education Foundation in Atlanta finds that low-income children are "now a majority of the schoolchildren attending the nation’s public schools." Children living in poverty are more likely to attend high-poverty schools--the research finds--schools less likely to have the resources to serve all students well.
