My good friends at ChildSafe reached out for help with their annual HALO Stocking Gift Drive. ChildSafe serves families and children traumatized by child abuse and neglect. Always ready to assist a good cause, I am passing on this information.

Of the more than 1,500 families served annually at ChildSafe, 67 percent live on an annual income of $15,000 or less. ChildSafe is asking for your help to provide joy and delight to the child victims and their families, who will not otherwise have a holiday experience.

The name of Glick’s nonprofit, Fournir4Kids, translates to ‘providing for kids.’ Over the past two years, several projects for children at St. Peter-St. Joseph’s Children’s Home (St. PJs) were funded by donations from Fournir4kids. St. PJs serves children and families who have been impacted by abuse and/or neglect.

Christmas came a few weeks early for Guide Dogs of Texas (GDTX), when the nonprofit received a $195,000 grant from the Petco Foundation. Funds will benefit the organization’s programs that support clients who rely on a service dog to provide them with freedom, mobility and independence. The grant is a result of fundraising efforts sponsored by Petco and Natural Balance Pet Foods during National Guide Dog Awareness Month in September.

Edward and Betty Boop (BB) are lucky to be alive: Originally rescued from the streets of Bexar County by Ordinary Miracles Canine Rescue (OMCR), supporters raised funds to send them to a renowned Willis, Texas pit bull rescue when families could not be found for them locally.  Much to their shock and disappointment, on July 17, 2012, the Montgomery County Sheriff served a warrant on Spindletop Pit Bull Refuge and seized 297 dogs from negligent conditions (Click here for related Houston Press article).
