As thousands of people converge at the San Antonio Rodeo, AT&T* is boosting network capacity to help its customers have a great wireless experience.
The company has deployed a Cell on Wheels (COW), to accommodate expected increased wireless network demands from high concentrations of smartphone users in San Antonio. The augmentations will help improve reliability and data speeds as the event runs Feb. 7 – 23, 2013.
“Events like the San Antonio Rodeo generate memorable experiences that our customers will want to share with friends and family through text messages, photos, status updates on social networks and calls from their mobile devices,” said Dahna Hull, Vice President and General Manager, AT&T South Texas. “We’ve deployed a team of network engineers who are working hard on creating local enhancements to help provide great connectivity, solid coverage and fast speeds.”
The temporary enhancements are part of AT&T’s ongoing efforts to prepare for and provide a much better mobile experience during special events like the San Antonio Rodeo. With crowds expected to total about 1.4 million attendees over the two-week period, AT&T’s network team has enhanced nearby cell sites, and deployed one COW to support the crowd’s mobile Internet needs.

AT&T launched its ultra-fast 4G LTE network in San Antonio in October 2011, providing mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G.**
AT&T has the broadest international coverage of any U.S. wireless provider, providing access to voice service in more than 225 countries and data service in more than 205 countries. AT&T also offers voice and data roaming coverage on more than 140 major cruise ships, as well as mobile Internet services in more than 145 countries.

AT&T also is a leading developer of Distributed Antenna Systems, which utilize multiple small antennas to maximize coverage and speed within stadiums, convention centers, office buildings, hotels and other areas where traditional coverage methods are challenging.
From 2007-2011, AT&T invested more than $115 billion into operations and into acquiring spectrum and other assets that have enhanced our wireless and wired networks. And in that same time span, AT&T invested more capital into the U.S. economy than any other public company.
