Academia América is partnering with Cortez Branch Library to provide a 10-week citizenship education course for legal residents who qualify to apply for U.S. citizenship.
To register, interested persons must apply in person with their permanent residency card and a second photo ID. Details about qualifications, class schedules and other requirements will be available at registration. A donation of $25 is recommended to cover the cost of materials, but instruction is free.
After completion of the course, students will qualify to enroll in the advanced course, which offers low-cost assistance with completion of the naturalization application provided by the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).
Classes will start February 15, 2015 and will meet Sundays 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Carlos Gonzalez of Academia América will be the instructor. For more information on the program, call 210-207-9130 or visit mysapl.org. For details in Spanish, call 210-207-1710.
