VIA Metropolitan Transit will hold two public hearings to receive comments from citizens regarding proposed route changes scheduled to take effect Sept. 2, 2014.
The hearings will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday, July 2
6:00 p.m.
VIA Metro Center
1021 San Pedro Avenue
The proposed changes are as follows:
- 16 Fort Sam Houston/USO Express – Sunday service will be added with trips every 50-60 minutes from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- 36 South Presa – The southern end of the alternating loop will use Sidney Brooks instead of SE Military Drive between South Presa and New Braunfels Avenue.
- 46 Commercial – Northbound route from Main Avenue and Sheridan Street will be modified to use Sheridan to Flores Street to Cesar Chavez Boulevard. The routing will be reversed for the southbound trips.
- 65 Lackland AFB/USO Express – Sunday service will be added with trips every 50-60 minutes from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- 515 Southcross – Route will be expanded to include a new branch that will continue from McCreless Marketplace to a terminal outside the Walters gate of Fort Sam Houston by way of South New Braunfels Avenue, Fair Avenue Walters Avenue, Hood Street, Ervin Street, and Carson Street. This new branch will operate hourly from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
- 550/551 Looper Skip – Schedule adjustments will be made to improve reliability.
- 600 MedLink – Route will be eliminated due to low ridership. All Medical Center destinations will receive service from other routes.
Both locations are accessible by wheelchair. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may request an interpreter 48 hours prior to the meeting by calling TDD 362-2019 or the Public Engagement office at 362-2370.
