Local solar manufacturer is offering free welding education and training

ERCAM Trackers is hosting a free two-week welder training program to fill positions in San Antonio’s renewable energy industry. Participants will have the opportunity to join ERCAM as a full-time employee with benefits upon completion of the training.

ERCAM is looking for individuals with basic machine skills to complete the 80 hour training program led by a master welder. The program is free to participants. ERCAM will offer the program throughout the beginning of 2014 until 90 welders are recruited from the program. The program will cover safety, equipment use and care, and on-the-job training.

Upon successful completion of the course, which includes passing an exam evaluated by a master welder, participants will have the opportunity to join ERCAM as a full-time employee with benefits and paid vacation. “This program is about helping the community as well as increasing the workforce in San Antonio” said Frank Taylor, V.P. of ERCAM. “It gives people the opportunity to be part of a team.”

ERCAM supplies mounting systems that track the sun for OCI Solar Power’s 400 megawatt solar deal with CPS Energy that pairs both sizeable generation with economic development. The 400MW project resulted in the largest economic development agreement between a municipal utility and private company. The partnership will bring manufacturing, 800 permanent jobs and an annual economic impact of $700 million to Texas.

The next available course will begin in early February. Registration is currently open. Space is limited. Please contact ERCAM to inquire or register at (210) 807-9880.
