San Antonio is a thriving community of creatives specializing in various fields and areas of interests. The team behind Make San Antonio want to create a space for local creatives to gather to create and collaborate. On Saturday, February 14 Make San Antonio kicked off a membership drive with a goal to have 100-plus people sign up as members during the five week-long campaign.
Make San Antonio is a soon-to-be makerspace with a goal to foster innovation and collaboration and give area residents a home base for all their creative endeavors. At Make San Antonio, members will have access to tools and software.
“Make San Antonio will be a great opportunity for San Antonio’s creative community to come together under one roof and expand their creative knowledge,” said co-founder Greg Reyes. “During our first phase our space will contain laser cutters, arts & crafts tools and materials, CNC machines, and 3D printers among other hand tools and machines.”
The campaign is broken down into six categories from Tinkerer to Family Makers, Make San Antonio gives supporters the option of joining at different levels and even includes an option for family makers. The money raised from this campaign will have a multi-purpose use. Make San Antonio will use the funds to reach out and tailor the space for early supporters as our first official members. The funds will also be used for community outreach and as a catalyst to provide free classes/workshops to our supporters. Make San Antonio’s campaign includes perks for all support levels that contain the usual swag of a custom Make San Antonio t-shirt, tote, sticker and button but also exclusive experiences such as an invitation to Make San Antonio’s hard hat build-out tour and a VIP soft opening Meet the Makers party.
Make San Antonio will be out and about during the next few weeks promoting the membership drive. On Tuesday, February 17 from 6-7 p.m., Make San Antonio will be presenting at 1 Million Pints, an entrepreneurship forum that allows presenters the chance to pitch their ideas and talk about challenges they may be facing all while getting real-time feedback on solutions. The group will also be hosting an information table and sponsoring children and adult activity stations at SoFlo Market on Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
