Providence Catholic School Senior Linda M. McNulty was recently awarded a prestigious scholarship from the University of Texas San Antonio’s Top Scholar program. This highly competitive program, which chooses “The Best and the Brightest,” is centered around Knowledge, Leadership, and Service. Only five graduating seniors are chosen annually for this honor. The program includes a four-year scholarship of approximately $96,000 covering all tuition and fees, room and board, and a paid travel abroad experience.
Top Scholar students are automatically a part of the Honors College, and are offered personalized enrichment programming and signature experiences designed specifically for Top Scholars. Additionally, scholars are offered exclusive interaction with engagement opportunities with senior university and community leaders.
McNulty earned this exceptional scholarship with her academic accomplishments and extra-curricular activities while attending Providence. She was a member of the Providence Academic Team and the Student Ambassadors. McNulty volunteered for numerous community service projects at Providence and for her parish. Her awards include being named a 2013 AP Scholar, recognition as a National Hispanic Scholar, and Gold and Silver certificates for high scores on the National Spanish Exam. As part of a senior year internship class, McNulty worked as a writer for "Chica Girl Magazine." She earned a $10,000 scholarship from National Association of Women Business Owners San Antonio Chapter (NAWBO-SA) Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards for her business plan Merit Laboratory.
“The UTSA Top Scholar program is proud to welcome Linda to our community of scholars. Linda embodies our mission and commitment to Knowledge, Leadership, and Service. We look forward to the upcoming four years with her,” said Kristi Meyer, Director UTSA Top Scholar program.
