Oscar Maldonado, 30, works hard for his money.
He sells paletas from his bicycle, a job that's helped him lose 100 pounds since December, going from 326 pounds to 226 pounds.
Maldonado sells paletas part time, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, and he also works for Alamo Concrete from midnight to 7 a.m., driving bulldozers.
He said the paleta sales help him save money to restore a '67 GT Mustang.
Maldonado said he does a good business in the summer, selling about 75 percent of his inventory every day. People see him in the neighborhoods around McCullough Avenue and come out of their homes to buy paletas from the cooler on his bike.
And when the going gets hot, he stays cool by drinking lots of agua, and, yes, by eating a couple of paletas along the way.
