Video: Art of the Sacred Texas Springs Exhibition

To celebrate the sacred spring, the “blue hole” that is the source of the San Antonio River, a local non profit partnered with a group of passionate professional artists to organize “Art of the Sacred Texas Springs,” a month-long exhibit at the Kelso Art Center on the University of Incarnate Word campus.

The exhibit which runs from March 9 to April 8, 2018, was organized by Headwaters at Incarnate Word and features 38 artists and more than 60 pieces, including photography, sculpture and painting.

Watch the video of the artists staging their pieces for the exhibition, as Diana Roberts, one of the organizers part of the art collective, talks about the project's goals.

Part of the sale proceeds go to support the nonprofit, Headwaters at Incarnate Word. Their Executive director, Alex Antram, talked about the significance the spring has to the region, and shared the background and mission of the organization.

The installation is housed in the Semmes & Condos Galleries in the Kelso Art Center at the University of the Incarnate Word, 4301 Broadway, San Antonio.

The celebration is part of a pilgrimage of sacred springs in Southwestern Texas which include the headwaters at the Comal River, Barton Springs, San Marcos Springs, Dripping Springs, and San Pedro Spring.
