Wanted: Warm coats for south side children

Presa Community Center urgently needs your help to provide warm coats for the students who come to the center after school.

Many of our students, who range in age from 5 years old to 13 years old, are coming to the center wearing clothes that are too thin to keep them warm outside.

The students walk with their teachers a few blocks to Presa Community Center from the nearby charter school. Some are wearing hoodies, others have long-sleeved shirts, but their clothing is not enough to keep them warm in this winter weather.

At Presa Community Center, we provide a meal for the children, give them help with their homework and give them the opportunity to play outside and relieve stress.

The students we serve come from low-income homes. Their parents are very hard workers, but times are especially tough for them after the holidays.

If you can help, please drop off coats at the Presa Community Center from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. 4:30 p.m. (3721 S Presa St.), and if you need additional information, the phone number is 210-532-5295.
