Webcast: Clean Air, Clean Water, Healthy City

LIVE now: Webcast from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. as the Environmental Defense Fund and several local environmental groups host an intimate question and answer session with San Antonio's mayoral candidates on local air quality, water and sustainability issues.

Thanks to sponsorship from the EDF and from ESD and Associates, you can watch the webcast live or later right on this page.

The back-to-back conversations with Leticia Van De Putte at 6 p.m. and with Ivy Taylor at 7 p.m. will be moderated by Peter Bella at Trinity University's Chapman Auditorium. Bella, Executive Director of Texans for Responsible Energy Development, is a leading authority on local air quality and former natural resource director of the Alamo Area Council of Governments.

Audience members will have the opportunity to talk directly to the candidates about issues including the city's anticipated failure to meet new Environmental Protection Agency minimum air quality standards for ozone, and how the next mayor of San Antonio will bring the city back into compliance with EPA standards.

San Antonio's next mayor also will need to face concerns about water quality, availability, infrastructure and management.

The Clean Air, Clean Water, Healthy City forum is a joint collaboration between Environmental Defense Fund, Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, Alamo Group of the Sierra Club, Texas League of Conservation Voters Educational Fund, Public Citizen, the SEED Coalition, Environment Texas, and Trinity University’s Political Science Department.
