Webcast: Walkable Community Workshop

REPLAY VIDEO: Join NOWCastSA 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10 for the live webcast of the Eastside Choice Promise Neighborhood Walkable Community Workshop.

Walkable Communities

The San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) developed the Walkable Community Program to support a multi-modal transportation system. According to the MPO website, the program recognizes the need to plan for everyone and all modes of travel, whether young or old, motorist or bicyclist, walker or wheelchair user or transit rider.

Tuesday's workshop will focus on San Antonio's East Side. Residents will participate in interactive mapping exercises and share ideas about safer, healthier and greener neighborhoods. The event is hosted by MPO, San Antonio Housing Authority, Eastside Promise Neighborhood and Wheatley Choice Neighborhood. Thanks to the underwriting support of Eastside Promise Neighborhood, anyone can participate in the event live from a computer or mobile device right here on this page.

To participate in the interactive mapping exercise, see http://www.sametroplan.org/ChoicePromise/ through September 20.

Community residents worked together on different maps to identify problems and solutions to the issue of walkability in thier neighbourhood. Check out this slide show of their work.
