The 8th Annual Dignowity Hill Pushcart Derby is scheduled to take place Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012.   The event invites teams from all over the city to build and compete in a race around the neighborhood next to Dignowity Hill Park. Event founder Cruz Ortiz, who calls the event a  “public art intervention,” looks for the event to strengthen the East Side community and highlight the neighborhood as a destination for all San Antonians. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

San Antonio’s vibrant art world was in full display Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts District on the West Side. Hundreds of people flocked to the La Gloria extravaganza that showcases talented Latino artists, musicians, poets, sculptors, independent filmmakers and fashion designers. “La Gloria is a great concept, a festival for independent artists,” said noted San Antonio poet Anthony Flores.“The event promotes what artists do, what they try to do and how they try to make a living.”
