This Run/Walk benefits St. Vincent de Paul of San Antonio. The history of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul begins in 1833 Catholic university student, Frédéric Ozanam, who gathered a small group of friends and took the risk of responding to the glaring inequality and injustice emerging in Paris, France. Today, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of the Archdiocese of San Antonio involves over 2,000 dedicated Vincentian members and other committed SVDP volunteers who serve children, families and individuals in need.

This year, more than 3,500 area residents will come together to Stop Diabetes® by raising money and walking in Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes on November 8th at the Mission County Park Pavilions, a one-day signature fundraising and awareness walk benefiting the American Diabetes Association. Every dollar raised through Step Out plays an important role in supporting the Association’s mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

The Grand Purpose Foundation to host Give Abuse the Boot 5k Walk/Run and 1 mile Fun Run benefiting The Children’s Shelter. The mission of the Grand Purpose Foundation is “to provide compassionate, encouraging, and nonjudgmental services that promotes self- respect and independence through education, intervention, and financial assistance to women and children directly experiencing physical or emotional abuse."

The 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk supports survivors of sexual violence, as well as their friends and families, through comprehensive service and by increasing community education and awareness by donating the proceeds of the race to The Rape Crisis Center. Run 4 Hope wants you to be a hero for The Rape Crisis Center and register. Costumes are encouraged! Free Kids' Superhero Dash before the Run/Walk. Awards will be handed out after the race. Stick around for the Post-Race Party with family friendly carnival games, and make your own cape booth!

The 2013 Boxer Boogie 3k and 5k races on Oct. 27 attracted 474 runners, many with their furry companions and costumes. The event rasied a total of $12,200 for the Alamo Boxer Rescue group.

The B.I.S.H. Foundation (Believers Inspiring Survivors For Hope) will be having its 3rd Annual Santa Antonio 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Sunset Station. Every participant receives a Complete Santa Suit to wear at the event. All the proceeds from the event will be donated to MD Anderson for Cancer Research.
