To honor San Antonio’s Aviation and Aerospace History and to nurture our future generations of aviation and aerospace innovators, The Dee Howard Foundation (DHF) and the San Antonio Airpower Heritage Foundation (SAAHF) have joined together, in collaboration with other local, state, and national partners, to organize the San Antonio Aviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame 2017 Dinner. 2017 marks the 100 year anniversary of the founding of Kelly Field.

The San Antonio Aviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame was established in the fall of 2015 to Honor San Antonio's Aviation and Aerospace History and to Nurture our Innovators of the Future. The Hall of Fame Inaugural Dinner will be held on March 31, 2016 in the Valero hangar at San Antonio International Airport to induct eight honorees representing civil and military aviation and aerospace in its first class.

It’s simple, says Port San Antonio executive vice president Jim Perschbach. “Our board believes that there is no problem in San Antonio - or anywhere, for that matter - that can't be fixed by increasing the average wage in this community and providing more employment opportunities,” Perschbach said.

Again this year Science Research and Design students from SAISD’s Lanier High School will participate in the SystemsGo aeroscience project, which is endorsed by NASA and certified by The Space Foundation. For the first time they will send two rockets up into space – Blue Lightning and Voknova. The Lanier team will be among students representing more than 60 high schools statewide at this site near Fredericksburg (Hillview Ranch, 4259 Rural Rouse 1323 Country Road, Willow City). Rockets will be launched every 20 minutes with the order determined that day.
