Providence Catholic School Senior Linda M. McNulty was recently awarded a prestigious scholarship from the University of Texas San Antonio’s Top Scholar program. This highly competitive program, which chooses “The Best and the Brightest,” is centered around Knowledge, Leadership, and Service. Only five graduating seniors are chosen annually for this honor. The program includes a four-year scholarship of approximately $96,000 covering all tuition and fees, room and board, and a paid travel abroad experience.

It’s time to get out your running shoes and start training! The Sixth Annual Providence to Pearl 5K Walk/Run is set for April 20, 2013. The route weaves along one of the most beautiful spots in San Antonio--the Riverwalk Museum Extension--which coincidently is right across the street from Providence Catholic School.

At Providence Catholic School, science is a girl thing. Beginning in the 6th grade, students are encouraged to find their potential to thrive in science and math. “Great science is about creating, seeing connections, asking questions, understanding how and why things work,” Middle School science teacher Katie Shults said. “Girls at Providence are given the opportunity to do all of that in the classroom and labs.”

Each day at Providence Catholic School begins with prayer and a live broadcast of morning school announcements, weather and news. Written, produced and directed by the young ladies in the Broadcast Journalism class, it is upbeat and informative. “Three minutes!” Darrell Martin, class teacher and Technology Director, reminds the crew. The students busily perform a sound check, rehearse with the prompter one more time, and then… it’s show time!
