The San Antonio Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of DIY invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. Makers (individuals and groups) are invited to present their DIY projects, to show their work and share their expertise with the rest of San Antonio. The Faire gathers together tech enthusiasts, crafters, hobbyists, artists, tinkerers, food artisans, engineers, science clubs, students, educators and commercial exhibitors. The San Antonio Public Library will celebrate the diversity and rich cultural heritage of the Alamo City during Hispanic Heritage Month. During this month visit several branches as they host art exhibits by local Latino artists. Exhibits will run Sept. 7 through Nov. 7. Delicious Tamales is calling for artists to create tamale-themed art for a benefit auction. Participating artists can pick up art supplies including tamale husks at Delicious Tamales Headquarters. Participating artists will receive two complimentary tickets to attend the event.

San Antonio’s vibrant art world was in full display Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts District on the West Side. Hundreds of people flocked to the La Gloria extravaganza that showcases talented Latino artists, musicians, poets, sculptors, independent filmmakers and fashion designers. “La Gloria is a great concept, a festival for independent artists,” said noted San Antonio poet Anthony Flores.“The event promotes what artists do, what they try to do and how they try to make a living.”

In commemoration of Linda Pace's birthday, an art tribute by Jesse Amado, "Days" opened April 8, 2010, at San Antonio's Central Library, 600 Soledad St.Amado placed 22,615 crystals in the permanent art installation -- each crystal representing a day in the life of Linda Pace, who lived from April 17, 1945 to July 2, 2007.
