Join the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library as they honor three of San Antonio's most outstanding artists: Latino jazz musician Henry Brun, currently working on an Afro-Caribbean project, scheduled to debut at the Carver Cultural Center in 2018. Brun has performed in Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, as well as across the U.S. He has served as chair of the City of San Antonio Cultural Advisory Board.

SA2020, the local nonprofit that’s charting San Antonio’s progress in several categories over a decade, said 41 percent of 59 target goals have been achieved or exceeded. That was one of the big takeaways from a DreamWeek luncheon held Jan. 12 at the Witte Museum’s Mays Family Center.

Applications are now being accepted for paid summer internships with local nonprofit arts organizations with funding from Bexar County. Through the Arts Internship Program, Bexar County provides $3,500 to ten local nonprofit arts organizations to fund an internship at each organization to assist with a seasonal program or special project. The internships will begin on June 6 and end on Aug. 12.

At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, the Magik Theatre will provide an opportunity for patrons on the autism spectrum and their families to enjoy live theatre with a sensory-friendly performance of Elephant & Piggie’s We Are in a Play! During a sensory-friendly performance, house lights are kept on, sound levels are lower, audience members are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance, a designated quiet area is provided, outside snacks are permitted, and audience numbers are kept smaller, to offer an experience that will be both enjoyable and comfortable.
