“Ending Racism in About an Hour” was the conversation led by W. Kamau Bell at San Antonio College (SAC) Thursday night, Feb. 2. “In these days, it may take two or three hours,” the California comedian quipped. SAC’s McAllister Fine Arts Center was packed with 600 people to hear the stand-up comic and television host deliver what he called ‘The W. Kamau Bell Curve.’

Barack Obama is a citizen born and raised in the United States of America. It says so much about our nation, good and bad, that he now enters the last year of his presidency, yet 1 in 5 of his fellow Americans don’t believe the preceding sentence. At noon, on Jan. 20, 2017, a hand will be placed on a treasured Bible of personal or historic significance and the 45th president of the United States will be sworn in. He or she will assume our nation’s highest elected berth without any suspicions as to place of birth.

Christmas came early for the San Antonio Eastside Promise Neighborhood project: The collaboration, led by the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, won a $24.6 million grant to from the federal government to provide "cradle to career" services to improve educational achievement.Mayor Julian Castro announced the grant at a news conference on Dec. 19."What this means is that education on the East Side will never be the same," Castro said.

In a CNN interview on April 13, Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, criticized President Barack Obama's deficit reduction recommendations and praised those of Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin.Hensarling's claim that a system of private insurers for Medicare would be more efficient than the current single-payer system was particularly outrageous because I'm quite sure that he knows he's not telling the truth.
