On July 13, 2013, the San Antonio Housing Authority hosted the Mission Road Bike Ride. An estimated 60 bicyclists, from toddlers in bike trailers to senior citizens, rode from SAHA's offices on Flores St. through the neighborhoods to Mission Concepcion, less than 3 miles away.

When a San Antonio night is lit up by fireworks, the newest place to be is Hays Street Bridge. On July 4, 2013, this vantage point attracted an estimated 200 guests who started the evening with ice chests and lawn chairs.

 San Antonio City Council has noticed, in a positive manner, that cycling has increased in the downtown area.
