Our Family Reads: The Mayor’s Book Club was created by Mayor Ron Nirenberg to encourage families in the community to read along with him and members of City Council about some of their favorite topics, and to cultivate a community experience. San Antonio is a compassionate city, and that extends to our four-legged friends as well. Join Councilman Rey Saldaña to learn more about responsible pet ownership and the importance of lending your voice to those that cannot speak for themselves.

On Friday, October 9 at 9:30 a.m., the San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) will announce the fall 2015 selection for the Mayor’s Book Club with Mayor Ivy R. Taylor. The Mayor’s Book Club, a community wide reading campaign, was designed to cultivate a community experience through reading and discussion. The program’s goals are to expand an appreciation for literature in the San Antonio

San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor and the San Antonio Public Library launched the Mayor’s Book Club, beginning a campaign that will involve reading and special events at Library branches, parks facilities and senior centers that are related to the themes of the book, “Rocket Boys.”

Viva's Book with Lunch Club will feature a teleconference with the author of "Bread of Angels: A Journey to Love and Faith" from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at Viva Bookstore, 8407 Broadway St.Live from Jerusalem, Stephanie Saldana will discuss her book and answer questions from the audience.Free and open to the public. Lunch may be purchased from Here's to Yum Bistro at Viva Galleria before the teleconference. Tea provided.
