When a San Antonio night is lit up by fireworks, the newest place to be is Hays Street Bridge. On July 4, 2013, this vantage point attracted an estimated 200 guests who started the evening with ice chests and lawn chairs.

The City of San Antonio and the 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio will celebrate the completion of the Fort Sam Houston Drainage project. District 2 City Councilwoman Ivy R. Taylor; Brig. Gen. Theresa Carter, Commander of the 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio; City of San Antonio staff; and military personnel will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, on Binz-Engleman Road on the east side of Salado Creek. The site is accessible via Interstate 35 without the need to enter Fort Sam Houston (map top right).
