The Department of Human Services, City of San Antonio, and Haven for Hope are reaching out to help the most vulnerable community members as San Antonio braces for near-record high temperatures this weekend.   The Department of Human Services (DHS) will open four facilities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 29  and Sunday July 30 as cooling stations. VIA Metropolitan Transit will host a series of public workshops to seek the community’s input regarding corridors identified in VIA’s Vision 2040 Long Range Plan and the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan. All workshops begin at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.). Workshop participants will have the opportunity to review four separate corridors and provide input on existing conditions, unique characteristics, and future opportunities for transit improvements. Comments may be submitted at the public workshops or in writing through April 25, 2017.

VIA Metropolitan Transit will hold two public meetings to share information and receive input on the second phase of the Westside Multimodal Transit Center. The Westside Multimodal Transit Center (WMTC) will be located in and around the historic International and Great Northern Railroad depot building on Medina Street at Houston Street, restoring that building to its original purpose as a transit terminal.

VIA Metropolitan Transit System asked the public for ideas to improve its comprehensive regional transportation plan to meet San Antonio’s growing demand for public transit on June 15. The event at San Antonio's Central Library was the first of five community workshops to get public input on long-range transit plans, to hear VIA officials lay out the need for a comprehensive, county-wide transit plan to meet the burgeoning demand for service.You can watch, listen and see the online conversation in the videos below.
