U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) visited the campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio to talk to students about the importance of relations between the United States and Japan. Castro, founding co-chair of the House U.S.-Japan Caucus and member of the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees, talked about Japan not only as an economic superpower, but also as a valuable trade partner. The March 31 event was sponsored by the UTSA East Asia Institute.

Providence Catholic School (Providence) students were recently awarded a total of $17,000 in scholarships at the National Association of Women Business Owners San Antonio Chapter (NAWBO-SA) Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards. The Providence students were chosen for their outstanding business plans created and submitted as part of the NAWBO-SA Entrepreneurial Connections® Business Plan Teen Competition.
