Staying home last week saved 1,271 lives in San Antonio and Bexar County. Not only that, but 8,832 people didn't go to the hospital because you stayed home, according to projections by CI:Now, a San Antonio nonprofit that expands access to data that is understandable, trustworthy and timely. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff issued a Stay Home, Work Safe Order on March 25, 2020. For many people, staying home since then has been a frustrating experience with few tangible benefits.

Dozens of local restaurants have pivoted to offer curbside pickup or delivery service for food and alcohol after San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg ordered restaurants on March 18 to close their dining rooms to combat spread of the coronavirus. When you call in your order and pick it up curbside, 100% of the proceeds go to the restaurant. Some restaurants also offer their own delivery service.

NOWCastSA made this map so students and families can pick up free meals while San Antonio area schools are closed for the coronavirus pandemic. It has been updated for the summer. School districts are offering meals to pick up at curbside locations or at drive throughs and several are using school buses to deliver meals at stops along a route. We added all of the San Antonio Parks & Recreation meal service sites.
