For Adrianna and her service dog, Ms. Peaches, the best part of San Japan 2019 was the SJ Cares team who serve fans with disabilities. “SJ Cares people have really been awesome,” Adrianna said. “They let you know the best place to go to the bathroom with your (service) dog.”

San Japan, the ever-popular San Antonio celebration of Japanese culture and anime, manga and gaming, is gearing for its 11th iteration over Labor Day weekend. With each passing year, San Japan is proving it’s more than a fun place where cosplayers, gamers and artists of all ages and backgrounds can demonstrate their skills and share their love of anime and manga.

Celebrate the life and work of Carrie Fisher. Join us for a one-day pop-up exhibit featuring original art and photography created by fans of Fisher. The exhibit will include a screening of her penultimate movie appearance as Princess Leia. Cosplay is encouraged. Movie at 2 p.m.

As I walked up to the Lila Cockrill Theatre, I caught a 672 CP Taurus in Pokémon GO. My highest one yet. Honestly, it took way too many PokéBalls to catch. Luckily, downtown has a crazy amount of PokéStops. Thankfully, we have an historic downtown with many in-game landmarks.
