The San Antonio Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of DIY invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. Makers (individuals and groups) are invited to present their DIY projects, to show their work and share their expertise with the rest of San Antonio. The Faire gathers together tech enthusiasts, crafters, hobbyists, artists, tinkerers, food artisans, engineers, science clubs, students, educators and commercial exhibitors. This is a family, including pets, event that features an art scene as well as an alternative shopping experience. This is the first pop-up shop for Spare Parts. Items for sale include: preloved arts and crafts material, office supplies, thrift and vintage miscellaneous items, and Valentine’s Day gifts and cards. Prices vary for different items.

American Indians in Texas (AIT) was founded 20 years ago in San Antonio to preserve and protect the culture and traditions of indigenous people.  In the span of two decades, AIT has sponsored or participated in several dozen Pow Wows in Texas. United San Antonio Pow Wow is a non-profit charted organization whose purpose is to promote the traditions and culture of the American Indian and enlighten the non-Indian about the history and culture of the Native Americans.

The Mockingbird Handprints is a shop made up of a handful of local artists who specialize in a variety of artistic mediums including textiles, printmaking, fabrics, re-cyclying vintage and antique furniture, jewelry, stencils and more. MockingBird Handprints Holiday Market will be an eclectic mix of art and home accents for purchase made by the artists of MockingBird. The holiday market kicks off Friday, 6 to 10 p.m., and finishes up on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Blue Star Art Complex.

Northwood Presbyterian Church is having a Fabulous Family Fun Festival on July 4! The morning will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with a neighborhood parade and continue until 1:00 p.m. with food trucks, Fair Trade artisans from around the world and a variety of local artisans with hand made arts and crafts. There will be fun and games for the kids including a moon bounce, ball pit, face painting and more! It will be a fantastic way to kick off your Fourth of July Celebrations.

Instead of crowding into jam-packed malls with consumers looking to beat everyone to the deal, join us at Esperanza’s 22nd Annual Mercado de Paz  (Peace Market.)  Beginning Friday, November 25th through Saturday, November 26th the two-day, free admission Mercado will be open from 10 am to 6 pm at the Esperanza Center at 922 San Pedro, just north of downtown. Admission is free!
