Staying home last week saved 1,271 lives in San Antonio and Bexar County. Not only that, but 8,832 people didn't go to the hospital because you stayed home, according to projections by CI:Now, a San Antonio nonprofit that expands access to data that is understandable, trustworthy and timely. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff issued a Stay Home, Work Safe Order on March 25, 2020. For many people, staying home since then has been a frustrating experience with few tangible benefits.

The 4th Convening of the San Antonio Faith-Based Initiative featured an interactive working session facilitated by Trinity University's Dr. Christine Drennon and SA2020's Molly Cox to explore the geographical lines of division and the intentional initiatives of common good in San Antonio. The meeting was hosted by Rev. Ann E. Helmke, San Antonio's Community Faith-Based Liaison. This four-video playlist from the meeting includes the introduction, Christine Drennon's presentation, Molly Cox' presentation and the conclusion, pulling it all together.

The San Antonio area added more than 51,000 people from 2014 to 2015, one of the largest gains in the country, according to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau. Combined with Austin’s gain of 57,000 people, Houston’s gain of 159,000 people and the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s gain of 145,000 people, that adds up to 412,000.

The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce today released survey results of a citywide poll that indicates a majority of the community supports renegotiating the police/fire union healthcare contract with the City of San Antonio. The telephone survey was conducted March 4-6 among 501 randomly selected registered voters. According to Richard Perez, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, the poll was privately funded by members of the chamber.

On June 4, we released our first Data Report, but we weren't done! The next step was to scrub and polish our data indicators to make sure they were the absolute best to measure success toward our community's vision for San Antonio.
