The San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture presents a closing event for the landmark exhibition “The Day of the Dead in Art” at Centro de Artes on Saturday, January 18, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Curator Ruben C. Cordova, Ph.D., will present an overview of the exhibition and several participating artists will discuss their work and their connection to Day of the Dead traditions. These discussions will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience and photo opportunities with the artists and the curator.

Esperanza's Day of the Dead Celebration will be on Thursday, Nov. 1. Join us in celebrating our dearly departed familia, friends and ancestors at our annual Día de los Muertos celebration on Nov. 1, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Rinconcito de Esperanza (816 S. The annual Dia de Los Muertos celebration brings together traditional art and culture with the best in live music entertainment to create a two-day destination event for the City of San Antonio to celebrate the Day of the Dead. The event hosts a variety of activities over the weekend celebration including the largest open altar exhibition in the city. Events are free and open to the public including: live music at Arneson River Theater; original Day of the Dead art; living altar; dance, drum and puppet procession; live poetry and more!

Celebrating Día de los Muertos, SAY Sí’s 6th Annual Muertitos Fest provides a comprehensive perspective of the significant cultural holiday and will feature local artists, folk art exhibits, altars to honor the deceased, family art workshops, food booths, artisan stalls, live music and dance performances on November 1-3, 2012.

It's time to start getting ready for this year's Día de los Muertos celebrations.Observed on Nov. 2, Día De Los Muertos celebrates friends and family members who have died with festivals, altars, calaveras, visits to graves, food and music, as well as other harvest rituals from Central Mexican indigenous cultures.

Novelist, professor and St. Mary's University graduate, Manuel Luis Martínez, will read from his third novel, "Day of the Dead", from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, in the Chaminade Tower Garden Room, St. Mary's University. The reading will be followed by conversation and refreshments.
