Rocky Hernandez and the OBG Band rocked the Plaza Del Rey Ballroom & Bingo Hall during the District 1 "Senior Sweetheart Dance" on Tuesday. At least 130 seniors from the Kenwood Community Center, Sacred Heart Church and other District 1 Senior Services nutrition centers joined Councilman Diego Bernal and his staff for the event. Members of the Edison and Los Angeles Heights neighborhood associations and other groups participated, as well.

Diego Bernal launched his bid for San Antonio City Council District 1 in Main Plaza in front of San Fernando Cathedral Saturday with guests and supporters including his one-time middle school classmate Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio). You can watch three videos from the webcast of the event here:

While the signs aren't up yet and finishing touches are being made, San Antonio's first downtown off-leash dog park is set to open to the public Sunday, Oct. 10.The Madison Square Dog Park, located on the corner of Lexington and Dallas streets, boasts shaded walkways, benches and water fountains. Oh, and of course, a brightly painted red, faux fire hydrant.
