Just like books, airplanes have the power to take you places near and far. This month, share in Councilman Treviño's love of flying with books for all ages about airplanes. Families are invited to celebrate with free family-friendly activities like story time with pilots, DIY paper and straw airplanes, cloud painting, and more. A docent from the Texas Air Museum at Stinson Airport will present a program about the Stinson family and Katherine Stinson, the 4th licensed family pilot in the U.S.

Northeast Bexar County Democrats will host a Mayoral and City Council Candidates Forum from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 8 at the TriPoint event space. The forum will feature candidates for San Antonio Mayor and for City Council Districts 1, 2, 9 and 10. For more information, go to the group's Facebook listing.

Residents are encouraged to attend the second District 1 Bond Block Party at West End Park this Saturday. It will be a day filled with food music, resources, and information. Representatives from the District 1 Bond Committee, San Antonio Independent School District, and the City of San Antonio will be on hand to provide information about the 2017 San Antonio Municipal Bond and the 2016 SAISD Bond and T.R.E. Close to twenty organizations will also be on hand to provide information about resources and programs.

Rocky Hernandez and the OBG Band rocked the Plaza Del Rey Ballroom & Bingo Hall during the District 1 "Senior Sweetheart Dance" on Tuesday. At least 130 seniors from the Kenwood Community Center, Sacred Heart Church and other District 1 Senior Services nutrition centers joined Councilman Diego Bernal and his staff for the event. Members of the Edison and Los Angeles Heights neighborhood associations and other groups participated, as well.
