Eva’s Heroes is grateful to customers of Jersey Mike’s Subs who purchased subs, chips and drinks on March 29. On that day, Jersey Mike’s donated 100 percent of total sales – $21,597 – from its San Antonio stores through the company’s annual “Day of Giving”.

RSM, an audit, tax and consulting company, will be donating 220 gently used laptop computers to local nonprofits in Austin, San Antonio and surrounding areas. The intention of the donations is to help recipients better perform their missions and serve their communities.

For the first time in 20 years the Habitat Home Centers will be open on Black Friday. Our stores have always celebrated a very long Thanksgiving break, but with a surplus of merchandise in all three stores the doors will be open Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.
We don’t expect to see customers lining up at our doors at 3 a.m., but with an abundance of great buys available we know that our customers will leave with smiles on their faces and bargains in their shopping bags.

The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) will be one of the first blood banks to use the VeinViewer Flex, a product of Christie Medical, to help make blood donations more comfortable for young donors.
“With some donors, it’s difficult to find small veins for donation,” said Brian Clark, director of Donor Services at STBTC. “This technology we’ve invested in will help our phlebotomists find the right vein to help minimize discomfort during donation.”

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), South Central Texas Chapter received a $210,000 donation from TETCO and the Turner family to assist the nonprofit in its search to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, a life-threatening autoimmune disease.
