The window to enroll in an Affordable Care Act health plan is closing as the Feb. 15 deadline nears for Health Insurance Marketplace open enrollment. The time crunch has an added concern for more than 220,000 uninsured residents in the San Antonio area who are still debating whether to continue without health care coverage or pay a penalty on 2015 income tax filings next tax season.

Beginning Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, representatives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be in San Antonio to answer questions about the Affordable Care Act and the Health Care Market Place. Information sessions will take place in the Central Library Auditorium, 600 Soledad, on the following dates:

Youth ages 6 to 16 are invited to sign up to play in the Parks and Recreation Department’s youth volleyball, soccer and basketball leagues. Registration begins on Tuesday, October 1 and will continue through Friday, October 25 at 15 participating community centers. “Organized sports have the power to boost a child’s self-esteem and create lifelong healthy habits, while also teaching them the value of teamwork,” says Program Manager Geronimo Aguirre.
